Why buy natural whole bean coffee?

Natural coffee, the green beans are roasted without the addition of additives like sugar; it is the most natural and healthiest way to drink coffee, preserving its true flavor and aroma.
Moreover, at INCAPTO, we select special origin coffees. This means that all our natural coffee beans must meet three criteria:
  • Be 100% Arabica
  • Have no defects
  • Achieve a score above 80/100 on the SCA scale, a score that can only be given by professional cuppers.

Currently, natural coffee beans are mainly grown in tropical and subtropical countries. Coffee cultivation is culturally linked to the history and progress of many countries that have been producing it for over a century.

Types of natural roast coffee beans

There are two main species of coffee: arabica and robusta. Additionally, according to the botanical characteristics of the plant, there are various varieties and sub-varieties.

  • Arabica coffee is the original and most cultivated species (about 75%), although it requires more demanding growing conditions. Its flavor is more complex and contains more subtleties compared to robusta coffee.

  • Robusta coffee is a hardier plant and less demanding in terms of cultivation. It is a crop that produces more because it can be grown in flat lands, which increases the number of plants per area. It has a higher caffeine content, more acidity, and creates a denser beverage with more body. It is less aromatic and simpler compared to arabica coffee.

  • Blend coffee, sometimes called a blend, as the name suggests, these are the varieties resulting from the combination of different coffees, with the aim of having a final coffee that presents specific or unique characteristics.

Frequently asked questions

What is whole bean coffee?

Coffee beans are the seeds of the coffee plant’s fruit in their natural state, that is, before being processed for sale and consumption. These beans are harvested from coffee fruits and then subjected to a drying and roasting process before being prepared as a beverage.

When buying coffee beans, you have the opportunity to select the type of coffee, the region, and the roast level you prefer, which can significantly affect the final flavor and aroma of the coffee.

INCAPTO imports green coffee beans from all over the world, roasts them, and packages them in Barcelona so you can enjoy the best coffee experience, eliminating intermediaries and getting rid of capsules.
A INCAPTO has a page specifically created to help you choose the coffee beans that best suit your palate. If you still have doubts, we recommend that you contact us without hesitation so that we can advise you personally.

Additionally, we recommend the coffee tasting packs, which allow you to try all our coffees in a small format at a very special price. These packs are ideal for those who wish to start in the world of specialty coffee and do not know where to begin.
Whole bean coffee offers numerous advantages. First of all, it retains its flavor and aroma better because the beans are ground just before brewing your coffee.

In addition, it contains a higher amount of bioactive compounds that can provide health benefits, such as antioxidants and polyphenols. It also allows for greater versatility, as you can adjust the grind and brewing method according to your preferences.

For lovers of different cultures around the world, whole bean coffee provides the opportunity to explore various origins and varieties, allowing you to discover a wide range of flavors and aromatic profiles.
To the question of how many coffees you can make with a kilogram of coffee beans, we must say that it depends. Yes, the amount depends on the settings of your super-automatic coffee machine and your preferences, that is, whether you like coffee with more or less ground coffee.

For standard coffees, we recommend using 8 to 9 grams of coffee per cup. This means you could enjoy about 120 cups of coffee per kilogram of coffee beans or 60 cups of coffee with half-kilogram packs.
At INCAPTO, we roast coffee daily. This allows us to always offer fresh, freshly roasted coffee. Our commitment is for you to receive the coffee at home with the shortest roasting time possible.

You will always see the roasting date on the back of the packaging, which is not the case with capsule coffees or more commercial brands. Try it at your usual supermarket.

The roasting of our coffees is done in a handcrafted manner in a special coffee roaster, with the help of our roasting specialists.
Properly storing coffee beans is essential to maintaining their freshness and quality. At INCAPTO, we recommend that you keep them in a cool, dry, and dark place, away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture. To preserve their freshness, it is best to keep coffee in a hermetic and opaque container to avoid exposure to air and oxidation.

Additionally, it is advisable not to grind the beans until the moment of preparation, as ground coffee deteriorates more quickly. By following these storage practices, you can enjoy fresh and flavorful coffee beans for a longer time.
The shelf life of an opened bag of coffee beans can vary depending on several factors, such as the type of coffee, the quality of the beans, and the storage conditions. Generally, it is recommended to consume the coffee within two weeks after opening to enjoy its optimal freshness and flavor. It is essential to store it in an airtight coffee container, in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture. This will help preserve its freshness and prevent oxidation.

If the bag of coffee beans is closed and has not yet been opened, its shelf life can be extended, as the packaging is designed to maintain freshness and protect the beans from deterioration. The INCAPTO 500 g and 1 kg bags of coffee beans come with a zip-lock closure system so you can keep the beans better than if they were in the coffee maker’s reservoir.

You will find the expiration date on the sealed package. It is important to check this date and consume the coffee before it expires to enjoy the best quality.

It is always advisable to buy coffee beans in quantities that you can consume within a reasonable time frame to maximize their freshness and flavor.
