From the hills of the Nile to your cup

Our Rwandan coffee is born in the Nyamyumba station, in the Rubavu region, between 1,500 and 2,000 meters above sea level, on nutrient-rich volcanic soils on the shores of Lake Kivu. The Bourbon variety, processed through double fermentation, gives rise to an exotic and complex coffee: notes of cocoa, citrus and flowers, with 86 SCA points, which challenges the palate and reveals the extraordinary power of African coffee. Ideal to drink alone and be surprised.

A coffee that is reborn with its country

Rwanda's coffee industry is one of the world's most extraordinary transformation stories. After decades of conflict, the country opted for specialty coffee as an engine of economic and social reconstruction. Today, Rwanda is internationally recognized for the exceptional quality of its coffee, with leading washing stations like Nyamyumba exporting to the best roasters in the world. Each cup of this coffee is part of that renaissance: a country, its farmers and a bean that says it all.

TOAST

Rwanda is the country with the perfect conditions for growing specialty coffee: altitude and a humid, temperate climate.

The Nyamyumba station, located in the hills of the Nile Trail, was built in 2006. It is a farm with the capacity to process up to 496 tons of cherry per year and about 400 trees are grown at altitudes between 1,500 and 2,000 meters in nutrient-rich volcanic soils. Around this station there are beautiful hilly landscapes, views of the crystal clear waters of Lake Kivu and part of the Gishwati National Forest.

Tasting notes are nuances that we can find naturally in coffee. Coffees with higher cupping scores are more nuanced and complex. If you like coffees with more traditional flavors, we recommend choosing varieties with tasting notes of the cocoa family, or nuts. On the other hand, if you like coffees with more personality, we recommend choosing coffees with floral or fruity tasting notes.
