Pumpkin spice and coffee new allies
In 2003, pumpkin spice was combined with coffee for the first time, and later it went on the market. This arises thanks to Peter Dukes, a Starbucks employee, who was asked to create a new drink for the holiday season, to be offered alongside the eggnog latte and the peppermint mocha.
Dukes, while searching for an excellent recipe, came up with the idea of mixing an espresso with textured milk, and a pumpkin spice sauce with nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves. To finish, I served it with a glass of whipped cream and a touch of pumpkin spice.
This version was initially sold in approximately 100 stores in Vancouver and Washington D.C, where it exceeded expectations becoming one of the most popular drinks. Currently we can get the pumpkin spice latte in Starbucks chains in more than 50 countries.
