Frequently asked questions

Is it an automatic coffee machine?

No. INCAPTO Sabi is a semi-automatic coffee machine. It helps you with the technical side, such as grinding, auto-tamping or milk temperature, which is usually the trickiest part. You make the coffee, INCAPTO Sabi makes it easy.

Is it for me if I don't know much about specialty coffee?

Yes. You don't need to know everything to get started. INCAPTO Sabi comes with recommended settings and, as you experiment, you'll be able to adjust the main parameters. It also helps with the more technical steps, like tamping or milk temperature. If you want something more than pressing a button, but don't want to master a manual espresso machine, INCAPTO Sabi could be for you.

What coffee can I use?

Always use 100% natural whole bean coffee. Natural coffee lets you better enjoy the flavour, aroma and quality of specialty coffee. Avoid sugar-roasted (torrefacto), blended, ground or caramelised coffee. The added sugar in torrefacto coffee can damage the machine's internal grinder and affect how it works. The warranty does not cover faults caused by non-recommended coffees.

What's the difference between this machine and an automatic one?

An automatic machine does practically everything for you. Sabi lets you get more involved in the process and adjust your coffee, without demanding the full technique of a manual espresso machine.

What's the difference between this machine and a manual espresso machine?

A manual espresso machine requires you to control grinding, dosing, pressure, tamping, extraction and steam more precisely. Sabi simplifies several of those steps so you can get started without mastering everything.

Can I make milk-based recipes?

Yes. Sabi has a steam wand with a temperature sensor to texture milk and make recipes like a cappuccino or latte.

What if my first coffee doesn't turn out as expected?

It can happen. Coffee beans vary depending on origin, roast and settings. That's why, when you receive Sabi, you'll have a getting-started guide to make your first coffee and set up the basics.

How often should I descale it?

The descaling light comes on after approximately 20 litres of water have passed through the machine's circuit. The frequency may vary depending on use and water type. If you make longer coffees or use harder water, limescale can build up sooner. Even if the alert hasn't come on yet, we recommend descaling the machine once a month. This helps remove limescale, keep the internal circuit clean and extend the life of the machine.
